MARLBOROUGH PINOT NOIR ROSE Sara 2014
VITICULTURE This is our first ever still, dry Rosé style, sourced from our organically certified vineyard in the Waihopai Valley. In 2014 the weather conditions in spring gave us very good fruit set which then led to large bunches with equally large berries. A slightly cooler than normal summer & nice warm early autumn meant we had good conditions to provide the bright, juicy red berry flavours & aromas needed for this style.

WINEMAKING: The fruit was picked late evening and allowed to soak on skins for 12 hours before draining off a small portion of free-run juice. This juice was then settled to clarify and fermented cool to retain the lovely berry aromatics. Rosé was matured in old oak barrels to allow the flavours to develop and the delicate phenolics to mature, softening the wine and providing depth of flavour.
TASTING NOTES The 2014 Rosé has a brilliant pink colour with slight bluish hues. The aromatics are classic Marlborough Pinot Noir with bright red berry, ripe red apple, water melon & candy floss. In the mouth the wine is soft and deceivingly full bodied with more of these red fruits, ripe melon and subtle stone fruit characters. We have deliberately left a sliver of phenolics to give the wine structure and ability to age.
CELLARING Made Made to enjoy while young but with the capability to age 3-4 years. Enjoy with a wide range of cuisine. It’s dryness means it will pair well with Spanish or Italian food but will partner equally well with full flavoured Asian cuisine. Equally delightful own it’s own, a truly versatile wine.
